Comments: Marksmanship and Rifle Club through ROTC program. ROTC scholarships are available. Website: http://www.cmich.edu/chsbs/x21965.xml The Marksmanship Club and Rifle Team focuses on developing precision marksmanship of the cadets in the Chippewa Battalion. The cadre responsible for this club includes a nationally competitive marksman and a military trained sniper. Cadets receive focused training on .22 caliber competition-grade rifles, the M-16 rifle and the M-9 handgun, as well as various other weapons employed by the United States Army. The club utilizes our one-of-a-kind indoor rifle range, donated by Brigadier General (retired) John Kulhavi, on a weekly basis. They also take advantage of ranges in our local community and Army National Guard Posts to fire larger weapons and even provide familiarization with weapons like the M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon. The Rifle Team competes in national postal matches and is laying the groundwork for a local competition with other ROTC programs in the near future.

Comments: IUP Rifle Club participates in intercollegiate rifle competitions. Non-NCAA affiliated member of the Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference (MAC). The primary criteria for membership in this organization will be competitive competence with the rifle. Supporting criteria will be sincerity of desire and competitive spirit. Membership will be on an annual basis and open to all IUP students. At the beginning of each academic semester, a four week training program will be conducted for prospective members. Upon conclusion of the training course, a competition will be schedule for all prospective and current members. This competition will yield membership for the year in question. It is believed that subjecting all concerned individuals to annual membership selection procedures will generate a responsibility for the development and retention of competence. Comments: NCAA Affifilated Member, Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference (MAC) ROTC Interservice Competitions MIT Pistol Club No prior shooting experience is necessary. All MIT undergraduate students in full time enrollment (more than 36 units) are eligible to shoot competitively on the teams. Recruitment happens during the beginning of the school year with the Athletic Midway which is held during R/O week. If you are a grad student or employee, there is a pistol club at MIT that practices and competes on Tuesday nights and goes to local competitions. For more information go to http://web.mit.edu/mitprc/www/index.html. For the undergraduate teams, the season runs from September to March, with the first match in October. Training is currently from Monday to Thursday. The range is open for the teams from 4:30 to 7:00 pm (except on Tuesdays, when the pistol range closes at 6:30 for the MIT P&R Club). As with other sports, training is required, absences must be excused, and participation at home matches is expected. As your level of proficiency increases, you will be asked to go to away matches. You must be patient as it takes as much time to develop proficiency in pistol and rifle as it does in any other sport. However, if you train and stick with it, maybe you can join the ranks of our All-Americans and nationally ranked teams! There are also pistol P.E. classes available (basic and advanced), but slots are limited. Sign-ups are on P.E. registration days twice a semester and during IAP.

Comments: Co-ed Varsity Rifle Team Website: www.gotigersgo.com 12-point firing range Army ROTC Program Website: www.memphis.edu/armyrotc Ranger Challenge is a highly physically and mentally demanding activity. It is the Army ROTC's varsity sport. The season is from late August through October. The culmination is a 3 day competition at Fort Jackson, SC focusing on basic military skills in which the Tiger Battalion team competes against all the other teams in the Region. Cadets must compete for a spot on the team, as space is limited. Basic Rifle Marksmanship Basic rifle marksmanship each competitor is given an M16A2 rifle, nine rounds to zero and 20 rounds to qualify. This event is a individual effort where the scored are tallied and totaled. It is an event were concentration, training and technique are irreplaceable on the path to success. Weapon Disassembly and Assembly D&A Once again an individual event all members are required to be technically proficient. Starting 25m behind an M16A2 rifle the team must run to, CLEAR, DISSASSEMBLE, REASSEMBLE, perform a proper FUNCTIONS CHECK, and run back the 25m to the start. Mistakes in the process result in additional time added to individual times. The fastest total team time wins the event.

Comments: Formerly known as University of Missouri-Rolla. Shooting programs include Army ROTC and Trap & Skeet Club. Army ROTC (Stonehenge Battalion) participates in Range Challenge Competitions. Ranger Challenge is ROTC's "varsity sport." The Missouri S & T Trap and Skeet Club was established in 1975 to promote the shooting sports of trap and skeet on the Missouri S & T campus. The club teaches safe gun handling and shooting practices to ensure that all members have a safe, enjoyable time while with the club. Club meets every Wednesday at 8:00pm on the second floor of the Havener Center. Also meets at the club house on Sundays around 11:30. The price of each round of 25 clay pigeons is only $5.50. This includes shells, range fees, and the use of all club equipment. If you provide your own shells the price is only $3.00 for each round. Dues are $15.00 each semester. You can shoot twice with the club before paying dues. If you have your own gun or other equipment you are welcome to use it. The club currently owns several different models of over-under, semi-automatic, and pump shotguns. Members are allowed to use any of these guns when they shoot. All we ask is that you use the club's cleaning supplies to clean the gun when you are finished. The club also provides shotgun shells, ammunition pouches, and eye and ear protection.
