National Smallbore Rifle Championships

In 2008, individual 3-position competitors in the National Smallbore Rifle Championships will be firing the same course of fire but will notice that they will be shooting on a new target (Conventional A-23 target). The move to the new target was suggested by the Smallbore Rifle Committee last September and approved by the NRA Board of Directors in January 2008. Team matches will continue to be shot on the NRA A-50 international target.

In a move to improve the National Championships and make them more "user friendly," shooters will be allowed to view their shot and scored targets. Planning is for two buildings behind the Stat Office to be set-up with racks where the targets will be displayed after they are scored. Challenge Referees will be stationed in each building to monitor the targets and to akjudicate scoring challenges. Admission to the target viewing buildings will be limited only to competitors (Team Captains diring team matches) with the proper competitor identification. Coaches, parents and other visitors will not be allowed in the target viewing buildings.
