American Sport Education Program

American Sport Education ProgramThe American Sport Education Program (ASEP) helps improve the sport experience for youth by providing the highest quality instructional courses for coaches, administrators, and parents to positively influence amateur sport, resulting in a safer, more enjoyable, and valuable sport experience for all young athletes. This program challenges them to consider a healthier, athlete-centered philosophy and then provide the necessary tools to help put that philosophy to work in their local sports programs.

ASEP's Professional Education Program provides comprehensive courses and resources for those who seek to become coaches, officials, or administrators in high school, college and university, Olympic, and competitive club-sport programs for athletes 14 years of age and older. The ASEP Professional Education Program is comprised of three levels-Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

The ASEP Coaching Principles Course is required to become a Certified Coach.

The ASEP Sport First Aid Course is recommended to fulfill the First Aid requirement to become a Certified Coach.

Shooting coaches can also achieve ASEP Bronze Level certification by completing ASEP's Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid Courses (either the online or classroom versions), the technical and tactical skills course in the specific discipline (see current course listing), and having a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card. Go to the ASEP website to sign up for these courses.

For coaches who complete the Bronze Level and would like to continue their professional coaching development, ASEP Silver Level courses are the next step. The Silver Level curriculum consists of advanced courses dealing with sport-specific techniques and tactics based on the best practices of experienced coaches (The Advanced Coach Training Course), the sport sciences, and advanced courses in sport physiology, sport psychology, mechanics of sport, and teaching sport skills. Go to the ASEP website to sign up for these courses.
