Meet Our Adjunct Instructors

The Law Enforcement Activities Division is proud to associate itself with a highly-trained cadre of adjunct instructors from around the country that are frequently utilized to conduct and assist in our firearm instructor development schools. These instructors represent the best of the best in today's law enforcement training community.

John Beehner

Law Enforcement Training
John is currently a law enforcement officer with over 16 years of civilian law enforcement experience. Having started his career as a seasonal officer with the Ocean City, MD police department in 1989, John currently serves as a patrolman with the Monroeville, PA police department, where he has been working since 1993. He has been a department firearm instructor since 1996, where he not only conducts his agency's in-service training, but also instructs at two of the local police academies. John is a military veteran; he spent 12 years in the Pennsylvania National Guard, and attained the rank of Sergeant prior to his honorable discharge. His last six years of service were spent supervising the training of over 60 soldiers. He holds a B.A. in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, is a certified instructor in handgun, shotgun and patrol rifle, and is also a Glock armorer. John is an active member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearm Instructors (IALEFI), the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the National Rifle Association.

Roy is a retired Missouri State trooper with over 37 years of law enforcement experience. After a brief military career in the U.S. Army, Roy joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol, working his way from trooper to Division Director of the Research & Development Division. He spent time as an instructor and assistant director of the department's training division and academy, as well as commanding Troop F in Jefferson City, MO. After retiring, Roy was named the interim Chief of Police of the Wentzville, Missouri police department until a permanent chief could be retained. Roy has been teaching firearms-related classes to law enforcement officers for over 30 years. He hold a B.A. in Criminal Justice Administration from Lincoln University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy's 82nd session.
Ed Caine

Ed is currently a Sergeant assigned to the Patrol Division of the Fairfax County Virginia Police Department with over 18 years of law enforcement experience. Prior to joining the Fairfax County Police Department, Ed was a deputy sheriff in the City of Alexandria Sheriff’s Office. He has been a Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) certified firearms instructor since 1995. In Alexandria, Ed was a member of the firearm instructor cadre that handled the yearly in-service qualification for that agency. He also assisted in transitioning the department from revolvers to semi-automatics. Ed is currently an adjunct instructor with the Firearms Training Unit of his agency, and is detailed to the unit during recruit firearm training and during the department’s in-service training.

Ed has been an NRA adjunct instructor since 2006, and is certified in the patrol rifle and handgun/shotgun disciplines. He is a certified armorer for SIG Sauer, Glock, Beretta, Colt (AR15/M16/1911), and Remington. Ed is a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), and the Police Marksmen Association. Ed has a B.A. in Human Resource Management/Leadership from the University of Richmond and is a Life member of the NRA.

Bill has been involved in law enforcement in both military and civilian agencies since 1985. He spent a total of 11 years as a military policeman with the U.S. Marine Corps serving as a desk sergeant, watch commander and training coordinator. Since 1992, Bill has been a police officer for the Gilbert Police Department in Arizona. Bill has served the department as a patrolman, bicycle officer, field training officer and recruit training officer in Arizona's largest formal police academy. He is a certified operator and instructor in all police weapons systems including, handguns, shotguns, sub-machine guns, precision rifles, less lethal systems, chemical munitions, diversionary devices and the Firearms Training System (FATS-3). Additionally, Bill is a certified instructor in defensive tactics, high risk traffic stops and serves AZPOST as a subject matter expert in the area of firearms training and police physical fitness. Bill also serves on the department's critical incident stress management team, which assists officers in dealing with traumatic events. Bill has served with the department's Emergency Response Unit (SWAT), in both high risk entry, precision rifleman and team leader capacities and additionally serves as the SWAT training coordinator. Bill is a member of the American Society of Law Enforcement Training (ASLET), the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), and the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI). Bill regularly presents at both the ASLET and IALEFI Annual Training Conferences and has written articles published in the Police Marksman and IALEFI's The Firearm Instructor magazines. Bill is a life member of the NRA.

Wes is a former police officer with over 16 years of law enforcement experience, having spent 10 years with the Mohave County, Arizona Sheriff's Office, and the last six with a Northern Arizona municipal agency. During his tenure, Wes served as Patrol Sergeant, Detective, and Training officer. Wes' last assignment was as the supervising sergeant of his agency's firearms training unit, and as the team leader/training coordinator of the agency's Tactical Operations Unit (TOU). Prior to embarking on his law enforcement career, Wes served in U.S. Army, and retired with over 21 years of both active duty and reserve service, including deployments in support of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. Wes holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration and is actively pursuing his doctoral degree in psychology. Wes holds numerous firearms and tactics instructor certifications from the U.S. Army, the NRA-LEAD, Arizona POST, the Smith & Wesson Academy, SigArms Academy, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the U.S. Marine Corps. Wes is also heavily involved in martial arts, and has studied a variety of different styles for well over 25 years; he holds black belt and instructor ratings in Hapkido and Hwa Rang Do. Wes has been very active in the world of writing and publishing. In addition to having articles regularly published in many firearms and law enforcement trade publications, Wes is the author of Train to Win and Condition to Win, training psychology books focused on law enforcement and military trainers and professionals. Wes is an active member of the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), The International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), the Military Police Regimental Association (MPRA), the United States Deputy Sheriffs Association (USDSA), The International Association of Counterterrorism & Security Professionals (IACSP), and the NRA. Wes is currently the Director of Law Enforcement and Military Training for the Crimson Trace Corporation.

Walt is a former Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), having served for over 30 years. With a B.S. in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University of Rutherford, New Jersey, Walt was stationed in the Jacksonville, Florida; Memphis, Tennessee; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania field offices. He has investigated a wide variety of criminal cases including organized, white-collar and reactive crimes, specializing in bank robbery, kidnapping, and extortion violations. He became an FBI firearms and defensive tactics instructor in 1972, and later coordinated the semi annual firearms training sessions for the Philadelphia field office SWAT team. Walt was promoted and transferred to the FBI Academy's training division in 1992 where he served in the firearms training unit (FTU) and the practical applications unit (PAU) until his retirement in 1996. He then returned to the FTU as a contract firearms instructor for the next three years, retiring a second time in 1999. During his career with the FBI, Walt received over 35 commendations from seven different bureau directors. Prior to his service in with the FBI, Walt served with the U.S. Air Force as an aero-medical evacuation specialist. He is a former competitive skeet shooter and is still an active member of the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA). Walt is also a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), and is a life member of the NRA.

Ron currently serves as a Lieutenant with a municipal Pennsylvania Police Department in charge of the regional training academy. He began his career in law enforcement in 1991 after a twenty-year career in the US Merchant Marine and US Navy (Reserves). He has served as a patrol officer, investigator and supervisor in Patrol narcotics and criminal investigations, and served with both the local DEA and FBI task forces.

Lt. Flowers has taught as an adjunct firearms instructor for his agency for twelve years, and full time for a year. He has been certified as an NRA Law Enforcement Firearm Instructor in the Handgun/Shotgun, Select Fire, Tactical Shooting, and Patrol Rifle disciplines. Additionally, he has trained with Trident Concepts, Special Tactical Services, Vickers Tactical, Strategos, Insights, and Surefire and is a certified armorer for Sig Sauer pistols and the AR-15 style firearm platforms. He holds an A.A. in Law Enforcement Management from Reading Area Community College, a B.A. in Theology from Alvernia College, and is currently working on a master's degree. He is currently is a member of the East Coast Gang Investigators Association (ECGIA), International Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association (INEOA), Pennsylvania Narcotics Officers Association (PNOA), International Association of Law Enforcement Firearm Instructors (IALEFI), Eastern States Vice Investigators Association (ESVIA), International Counter-Terrorism Officers Association (ICTOA), and is a life member of the Law Enforcement Association of America (LEAA) and the NRA.

Mark is a retired police officer from Prescott, Arizona with almost 28 years of law enforcement experience. After four years as a Security Police officer with the U.S. Air Force, Mark went to work with the York, Nebraska police department, where he remained for the next three and a half years. Mark went on to spend the next 20 years in the Prescott, Arizona Police Department where he retired in 2000 as a Sergeant. During his career with Prescott P.D., Mark served as their chief firearms instructor as well as the primary trainer and member of their SWAT team. He is a certified instructor in all disciplines of firearms (handgun, shotgun, rifle, patrol rifle, sub-machine gun, long-range rifle, and tactical), as well as less lethal munitions, chemical munitions, and several defensive tactics disciplines. Mark has served on the Arizona Department of Public Safety's Concealed Weapons Advisory Committee, and is the founder/owner of his own firearms training company. He is a past Vice President of the Arizona Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Association (ALEFIA), and is a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), where he has also been a frequent presenter at their national conferences. Mark is a life member of the NRA.

Tom is a retired Highway Patrol Officer from the Colorado State Patrol. In 1994, after retiring with 26 years of service, Tom continued his law enforcement career, serving another five years with the Chaffee County Sheriffs Office. During his 30+ year law enforcement career, Tom has been involved in the teaching of law enforcement firearms training since 1976, and received his Colorado Master Firearms instructor rating in 1984. He has been teaching in an adjunct capacity for the NRA's Law Enforcement Activities Division since 1984 as well. Prior to his law enforcement career, Tom served six years with the Colorado Army National Guard. He holds a A.S. in Police Science from Trinidad State Junior College and is an Endowment Member of the National Rifle Association.

Jess is a retired Captain from the Colorado State Patrol who, after having served for seven years as the Under Sheriff of the Las Animas County, Colorado Sheriff's Department, is currently working with the Department of Homeland Security training our future agents. Prior to his law enforcement career, Jess served in both the Navy and the Marine Corps. He received an A.S. from Trinidad State Junior College in Gunsmithing & Police Science, and is a certified firearm instructor by the state of Colorado, the FBI, and the NRA. Jess is also a part-time professor at the Trinidad State Junior College in the gunsmithing program, and is a noted expert on firearms in the state of Colorado. Jess is a volunteer NRA referee for PPC competition.

Dan Gray is a retired sergeant from a California police agency with thirty years of full-time active service, where he spent time in both the patrol and investigations divisions, and developed expertise and a reputation as a gang investigator. During his career, Dan also served as his departments lead firearm’s instructor, responsible for the agency’s training center and firing range. Certified by California Peace Officer Standards and Training, the NRA, and the FBI since 1979, Dan holds firearm instructor certifications in Handgun, Shotgun, Patrol Rifle, Select Fire, Tactical Shooting, Precision Scoped Rifle, and is also a Shoot-house, Crowd Control/Crowd Management, and Less Lethal Munitions Instructor. Dan currently instructs locally for the South Bay Training Consortium in San Jose, California, in the area of firearms, and as a Force Options Simulator Instructor, has been an instructor for the local police academy and has taught introductory and advanced firearms through the local junior college. Dan has also been an adjunct instructor at one of the country’s leading firearms training schools, as well as having attended several different firearms schools across the country to increase his own personal knowledge and teaching abilities. Dan is currently a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearm Instructors (IALEFI) where he has been a presenter at several of their annual training conference; the International Law Enforcement Educators and Training Association (ILEETA); the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA); and the National Rifle Association (NRA). Dan owns and operates Trident Firearms Academy, specializing in providing citizens with the safe and proper instruction in the home defense handgun, shotgun, and low light courses. He has also worked as a consultant for a major firing range equipment company that designs, builds, and reconditions firing ranges all over the world. Dan has been a guest instructor for the DEA and FBI at their academy in Quantico, Virginia, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 199.

Scott came to the Law Enforcement Activities Division after he retired from the Phoenix, Arizona, police department in 1997. With 20 years of service, Scott spent 12 of them assigned to the Phoenix Police Regional Training Academy as a firearm instructor. Scott is a Vietnam veteran where he served on small boats on the rivers of South East Asia and is retired from the United States Navy after 28 years, as a Chief Petty Officer. Scott began his NRA career as an adjunct instructor in 1990, and came on board as a full-time staff instructor after his retirement. Scott is a certified armorer on most of the semi-auto pistols and shotguns being utilized by law enforcement today and is certified as a Handgun/Shotgun, Tactical Handgun, and Patrol Rifle instructor. In addition to his duties as an instructor, Scott is responsible for all data entry and maintenance of the divisions Technical Information Center. He is a member of the Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA), International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), American Society for Law Enforcement Training (ASLET), International Law Enforcement Trainers and Educators Association (ILEETA), and is an Benefactor Member of the National Rifle Association.

Jeff is a retired lieutenant from the Alaska State Police Department with 20 years of service. His final three years with the troopers were spent as the commander of the Department of Public Safety Training Academy in Sitka, Alaska. Prior to his assignment at the academy, Jeff was assigned to each geographical area of the state in a broad variety of assignments. He worked in patrol, traffic, judicial services, a one-man remote "bush" post, narcotics, warrants, and as a major crimes investigator. He also spent 11 years on the statewide Special Equipment Response Team (SERT) team, responding to critical incidents across Alaska. On SERT, he operated as a sniper, on the perimeter and entry teams, and as the assistant team leader. Jeff has been a firearm and control tactics instructor since 1980. He has attended training at all of the major firearm schools in the country, and has completed over 1,500 hours of specialized training in weapons, use of force and special operations. He is a member and frequent contributor to American Society of Law Enforcement Training (ASLET), and International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI). Jeff holds black belts in two martial arts disciplines and is a competitive handgun shooter. He has a bachelors degree from Washington State University and graduated from the Administrative Officers Course at the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, KY. He is a Life Member of the NRA.

John is currently a Sergeant with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, Florida, where he supervises the Fugitive Apprehension Unit. Sergeant Helms began his Law enforcement career in 1991 and has operated in a variety of assignments including Patrol, Gang Suppression Unit, Intelligence Unit, FBI JTTF Agent, Patrol Sergeant, and Investigative Sergeant. Sgt. Helms became a firearms instructor in 1994 and an agency armorer in 1998. He holds numerous instructor certifications in handgun, shotgun, sub-gun, and rifle training. Sgt. Helms is a State of Florida CJST certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor and is on staff at Valencia Community College instructing basic and advanced law enforcement classes. John is an active member in the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearm Instructors (IALEFI), International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), and the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Jim is currently a law enforcement officer, with 17 years of civilian police experience, with the Dover, Delaware Police Department. Jim began his career in 1988 as a uniformed officer with the patrol division. He has worked in the Criminal Unit, Selective Enforcement Unit, and currently serves as Detective Sergeant with the Dover Police Departments Drugs and Vice Unit. Prior to becoming a police officer, Jim served with the U.S. Air Force as a Security Policeman for eight years. His assignments included Dover AFB, DE, Kunsan AB, Korea, and Ellsworth AFB, SD. In addition to his regular duties as a detective, Jim also serves as the Dover Police Department's Special Operations Response Team (SORT) Commander and Lead Firearms Instructor. In both capacities, Jim conducts proficiency training for all members of his department, as well as instructing recruits at both the Dover Police Academy and the Delaware State Police Training Academy. Sgt. Hosfelt is a certified instructor with the handgun, shotgun, and sub gun as well as tactics for Hostage Rescue and High Risk Warrant Service. His memberships include the Delaware Law Enforcement Marksmanship Association, National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), Mid Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network (MAGLOCLEN) and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). Jim is a past recipient of the NRAs Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and serves as volunteer referee for the National Police Shooting Championships.

Bob is a retired Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), having served with them for 27 years. While with the FBI, he was assigned to the New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Washington, D.C. field offices, as well as having been assigned to the headquarters staff. He became a firearms instructor for FBI training in 1977; and was a full time staff instructor assigned to the FBI training academy's firearms training unit (FTU) prior to his retirement. Bob continues to work as a contract firearms instructor at the academy today. Bob is an active member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI (SFSAFBI), the North-South Skirmish Association, American Legion Post 28, and is a life member of the NRA.

Ed is a retired police officer from Anchorage, Alaska, with eighteen years of police experience. He worked patrol, investigations and under cover drug enforcement during his career as well as being a lead firearms instructor at the Anchorage Police Department. Ed is currently a range master/firearms instructor for the State of Alaska Department of Public Safety Training Academy. Ed is also certified as a Police firearms Instructor/Trainer by the Alaska Police Standards Council and teaches operator and instructor classes throughout the State of Alaska. Ed has attended a multitude of firearms schools throughout the country and is a member of the International Wound Ballistics Association (IWBA), the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), the American Society of Law Enforcement Training (ASLET), and is a life member of the NRA.

Dave is a retired Special Agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where after 30 years of service, he retired in 1998. He was extensively involved in firearms and SWAT team tactics training since 1972 and continues to stay involved in law enforcement as he is currently a reserve police officer with the Eureka, Missouri Police Department. He has been a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician and holds numerous law enforcement firearms training certifications throughout the country. Dave has a B.S. in Accounting/Political Science and is an advisory board member for the Jefferson College Police Training Institute. Dave received the FBI Medal of Valor in 1991 and is an Eagle Scout. He is a member of the Missouri Peace Officers Association, the FBI Agents Association, FBI National Academy Associates, and the National Rifle Association.

R.K. is currently a lieutenant with the Huntington Beach, California Police Department where he is assigned as a patrol watch commander. With over 27 years of law enforcement experience, R.K. has worked in a variety of assignments including as a Field Training supervisor, FTO, SWAT, detective, narcotics and gang suppression. R.K. is a court-qualified expert on heroin influence, street gangs and white supremacist groups. He is an instructor in a variety of disciplines including firearms, SWAT tactics, chemical agents, less lethal munitions and diversionary devices. In addition to working as an NRA Law Enforcement adjunct instructor, R.K. serves as an adjunct instructor for the Golden West Police Academy, several other private training facilities. He is a USMC Vietnam veteran, holds a B.S. from Long Beach State University and has authored numerous articles which have appeared in various publications including Tactical Edge, Dispatcher, Law & Order, and Police magazines. He is a member of the American Association of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET), the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), the NRA, and serves as a board member of the California Association of Tactical Officers (CATO).

Dave has been employed as a full time-law enforcement officer since 1984 and is currently a Corporal serving with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office in Florida, where he has been since 1987. Assigned to the Professional Development Division, where he currently serves as the agency's Range Master and Chief Armorer for a 750-man department, he has attended numerous firearms related training and instructor courses, as well as armorer courses for most major law enforcement firearm platforms. In addition to being a certified firearms instructor, Dave is also certified to instruct Impact Munitions, Taser, Defensive Tactics, Law Enforcement Driving, and Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.). During his career, Dave has served in patrol, investigations and K-9, as well as the Marine Patrol and Traffic enforcement units. Dave is a current member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearm Instructors and is a life member of the NRA.

Darrel comes to the NRA's Law Enforcement Activities Division with over 20 years of firearm experience and experience in small unit tactics, law enforcement operations and high threat security operations. After his enlistment as a decorated U.S. Marine and veteran of Desert Shield & Desert Storm, Darrel began his law enforcement career working with the New Orleans Police Department. After a couple of years, he moved over to spend the next 13 with the Gulfport, MS PD. While in Gulfport, Darrel worked in patrol, motors, vice/narcotics, and the training division. In the training division, Darrel became range master for the entire department responsible for the firearm training and curriculum of the entire agency. After completing his NRA basic handgun/shotgun firearm instructor school in 1996, he went on to acquire NRA certifications in Tactical Handgun, Tactical Shotgun, Patrol Rifle, Select-Fire, and Precision Rifle. In 2004, Darrel left the Gulfport Police Department to deploy as a security contractor in Iraq with Blackwater USA working as a personal protection specialist for several high profile dignitaries. Darrel now resides in the Midwest, where he currently serves as a police officer for the Andale, KS Police Department and as a reserve officer with the Newton, KS police department, working narcotics and serving as a member of their SWAT team. A life member of the NRA, Darrel is also a member of the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), and the American Sniper Association (ASA).

Dan is a retired police officer from the Lexington, Kentucky Division of Police, with 24 years of service in law enforcement and corrections. In addition to assignments in patrol, traffic, and selective enforcement (motorcycles), he spent nine years as the Emergency Response Unit Training Coordinator with the tactical team assignments of sniper and tactical emergency medical services. He is a Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC) certified instructor for police firearms and traffic law enforcement. Dan is also the co-author and primary instructor for the KLEC-certified police sniper school and traffic radar operator course curriculums. He is a National Range Officers Institute certified range officer and can serve as an OIC or Range Safety Officer for military range complexes. The son of a world-class shooting coach and a three-time national women's pistol champion, Dan learned and now teaches the benefits of a sound foundation in the fundamentals of marksmanship. He has shot competitively since age 13 and shoots at the Master or Expert level in NRA PPC, High Power Rifle, Bull's-eye and International Pistol events. Dan served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman. He is a life member of the NRA and a Distinguished Pistol Shot.

Arnie is a retired police officer from Phoenix, Arizona with over 34 years of law enforcement experience, of which he worked 12 years as a full-time firearm instructor assigned to the Phoenix, Police Regional Training Academy. He served as the founding chairman of the Arizona P.O.S.T. Subject Matter Expert Committee on firearms for seven years, and as a member for an additional seven years. He helped develop the Arizona P.O.S.T.'s two-week firearms instructor school where he has functioned as the lead instructor for more than fifteen of these Schools. In addition to serving in an adjunct professor capacity at Mesa Community College in the Administration of Justice Program, Arnie is a member and co-founder of the Arizona Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Association (ALEFIA) and the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), where he has presented at five of their ATCs. He has been an NRA-certified firearm instructor since 1979, and is also a certified instructor in most other law enforcement disciplines to include the handgun, shotgun, rifle, sub-machine gun, tactical, as well as less lethal and chemical munitions. Arnie is also a serving member of the Arizona Department of Public Safety's Concealed Weapons Advisory Committee. Upon retirement, Arnie joined the Phoenix Police Reserve, and continues to donate his time as an instructor at the Academy. Arnie is a life member of the NRA.

Jeff currently serves with the Tuscaloosa Police Department where he is a Sergeant in the Training Division. In addition to having served in the patrol division during his 15 years with Tuscaloosa, he is still actively involved with his agency's Special Response Team where he is the Sniper/Observer Team Commander and is also assigned to the agency's Hazardous Device Team. He has been the Range Master and primary firearm instructor for his agency the last five years responsible for all recruit training and in-service firearm training. In addition to being a firearm instructor is also certified as an instructor in defensive tactics, chemical agents, less lethal, distraction devices, and tactical rope rescue through the Alabama POST. He has been a PPC Competitive shooter for over ten (10) years and has participated in the NPSC since 1999. He is a US Army Veteran where he was a member of the 1st Ranger Battalion from 1979 to 1983. Jeff is a member of Alabama Tactical Officers Association (ATOA), National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and National Rifle Association (NRA).
C. R. (Van) VanDerscoff III

Van retired from the Connecticut State Police Department in 1991 after 23 years of service, spending his last 6 years as a firearms instructor. Van is also a Vietnam veteran with three and a half years of active duty service in the U.S. Army. Since his retirement, Van has provided international training and consulting services both in the public and private sectors, specializing in firearms training and tactics. He gained significant recognition implementing training programs overseas. He currently is the lead law enforcement firearms instructor for Beretta U.S.A. Corp., where his duties include research, development, scheduling and teaching tactical shooting schools, transitional training courses and in-field armorer courses on the Beretta pistols. Van holds an Associate of Science degree from Springfield Technical Community College in Police Science and Administration and is a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET), the Connecticut State Police Alumni Association, the Police Association of Connecticut, and the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW). Van also is a Medal of Honor recipient from the Connecticut State Police (1986), is an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, and is a life member of the NRA.
Dave Weber

Dave is a former Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, having served for 28 years before retiring as a Supervisory Special Agent. While with the FBI, Dave worked for 24 of those years as an investigator while splitting time working on the SWAT team of his various field office assignments. Dave also worked at the field office level in the Police and Agent training section where he was involved in defensive tactics, fitness, sniper and firearm instructor. Prior to his employment with the FBI, Dave served in Vietnam as a Marine Corps officer for three years being honorably discharged in 1972.
