You asked for it: List of Eligible Animals Now Available!
Entrants have been requesting a list of eligible animals for depicting in entries for the the Youth Wildlife Art Contest, so we’ve put one together! Download it here!
Entries may portray any North American game bird or game animal that is legally hunted or trapped in the United States or Canada. Depictions of endangered species, non-game animals, and animals otherwise not legally hunted or trapped in North America are not eligible. Call (703) 267-1531 or email artcontest@nrahq.org to confirm whether a specific bird or animal is eligible. (The websites of state fish & game agencies can be a helpful resource for ideas of animals for the contest.)
Entries may be in the medium of the artist’s choice, and need not be framed. (Digital entries are not accepted.) The composition must be original, though photographs may be used for reference. Artwork traced or copied from existing photographs or artwork will be disqualified. The original artwork must be sent; scans, photocopies, and slides will also be disqualified.
Entries must arrive at the NRA by October 1, 2009. The entry must be accompanied by a note signed by the artist’s parent, guardian, or teacher, attesting to the originality of the work, and verifying the artist’s grade as of October 1. The artist’s name, age, home address, phone number, and grade should be printed on the back of the entry, or on a note attached to the back of the entry. (The entry form conveniently provides blanks for all of the student’s information, as well as a verification statement for the parent, guardian, or teacher to sign.)
